DIPLOMA IN BIBLICAL STUDIES
Overview
The Diploma in Biblical Studies offers a limited but concentrated study of the Bible and practical Christian ministry. It is ideal for those who have already earned a college degree but want to enhance their education with Bible and Theology.
Objectives
The graduate of this program will be able to
· Demonstrate a foundational knowledge of Bible content and doctrine.
· Continue personal Bible study and application.
· Employ practical ministry skills.
The Bible Requirement (15 semester hours)
The Bible component consists of the following courses – 15 semester hours:
· Bi 103 Biblical Literature – 3 hrs.
· Bi 104 Inductive Bible Study – 3 hrs.
· Bi 120 Christian Doctrines – 3 hrs.
· Bi 130 Methodist Distinctives – 3 hrs.
· Bi 140 Introduction to Christian Apologetics- 3 hrs.
The Christian Ministries Requirement (12 semester hours)
The Christian Ministries component consists of the following courses – 12 semester hours:
· CM 101 Evangelism & Discipleship – 3 hrs.
· CM 102 Survey of Christian Education – 3 hrs.
· CM 203 Teaching Bible – 3 hrs.
· CM 201 Introduction to Christian Counseling – 3 hrs.
Elective Requirement (3 semester hours)
English proficiency is required for the writing of academic papers. EN 101 and EN 102 are offered to those needing assistance.
Non-Methodist-students are permitted to substitute a Bible elective for Bi 130 Methodist Distinctives.
